UK launches varied heat pump grants by property type

In a move aimed at enhancing the adoption of heat pumps, the UK Government has today unveiled new proposals.

The focus of these proposals lies in making the installation of heat pumps more affordable for both homeowners and small businesses.

Central to these proposals is the concept of tailoring grant levels based on factors such as the type of property and the existing fuel source.

If implemented, this approach could potentially open up the avenue for a broader range of households and businesses to benefit from the advantages of low carbon heating solutions.

A significant change in the proposed measures involves the simplification of the grant qualification process.

This would involve removing the current requirement of having to install loft or cavity wall insulation prior to receiving a heat pump grant.

By doing so, households might stand to save both time and money in the process.

Commenting on the developments, Lord Callanan, the Minister for Energy Efficiency and Green Finance, emphasised the pivotal role of heat pumps in the journey towards reducing carbon emissions and energy costs.

Lord Callanan said: “Today’s changes go even further and will mean even more people could benefit from making the switch, offering them the option for a low emission, low cost form of heating their homes.”
