On Sunday, May 28, at approximately 9:49 p.m., Ludlow Police Officers performed a motor vehicle stop of a Nissan Murano on Fuller Street, on suspicion of multiple traffic violations.

While conducting the traffic stop, officers determined that the Nissan Murano was not insured and that the registration had been revoked.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as PEREZ, was aware that he could not operate this vehicle without registration and proof of insurance. DIAZ was a passenger in the vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers saw in plain view an open container of alcohol and initiated a search of the vehicle.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle officers found approximately 82.8 grams of heroin, 112 grams of crack cocaine, 37.5 grams of cocaine, and Tramadol Hydrochloride, for which PEREZ does not have a prescription.

Officers also located small baggies and rubber bands and additional drug paraphernalia, as well as an airsoft pistol equipped with a drum magazine for paintballs.

“I wish to commend the police officers for their excellent police work on this case,” Chief Valadas said. “Street drug interdiction arrests of this magnitude certainly help rid our community of illicit narcotics trafficking.”

PEREZ and DIAZ were arrested without incident.

PEREZ and DIAZ were held on $100,000 bail and transported to the Hampden County Correctional Center awaiting their initial appearance in Palmer District Court.

These are allegations. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty.
